MACON, Ga. -- Erik Sundstrom shot 78-76-74=228 to finish 3rd in the individual competition at the NJCAA Region 17 Golf Championships and earned an All-Tournament selection, while the Tigers shot 335-317-318 = 970 as a team. The All-Tournament selection was the 1st for the Tigers this year. The compeition was hosted by Georgia Military College and was played at the Brickyard Golf Club.
Sundstrom's 74 in round three was the fourth best round shot by any of the competitors in the three rounds, bested by only a pair of 72's from individual winner Andrew Nagel of ABAC and a 73 from 2nd place finisher Floris Vetch of Georgia Military College.
Jacob Whann posted an 81-85-78= 244 to finish in 8th place, Anthony Whobrey signed for an 86-88-79= 253, good for a T12th, Brett Ammons finished 14th with a 90-79-87=256, and Markus Svahn recorded a 93-77-87= 257 to finish 15th.
The Tigers travel to Gramling, S.Car. next week to play in the NJCAA District J Golf Championships for a shot at advancing to the NJCAA Div. I Golf Championships in Mesa, Ariz. on May 23-26.
