Fighting Tigers set to open 2016 with road tilt

CUTHBERT, Ga. -- Andrew College's men's soccer program begins its 42nd season this weekend with an away match at USCAA member Concordia College – Alabama on Saturday in Selma, Alabama.

The CCA match will kickoff at 4 p.m. CST on the campus of Concordia College – Alabama.

Andrew kicked off its 2015 season on a seven-match winning streak (7-0-0) and garnered its first NJCAA National Ranking (No. 16) since 2004 and its first National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) during the stretch.

Third-year head coach Rudy Roediger brought in a new group of 20 players to reload following the departures of All-Region selections, Connor Heydon, James Quinn, Lewis Jones, Daniel Bile, Henning Nordvall, Josh Fines and George Cunha. Roediger's new crop of players represent 11 countries and hail from five-of-six continents, while four of the former players have gone on to join four-year colleges and universities in four different states.

Andrew will play another tough schedule in 2016 as six matches will feature teams who were ranked in the NJCAA Division I Top-20 or received votes a year ago, including the reigning National Champions, Louisburg College (N.C.).

The Boys in Blue & Gold have played CCA four times in the past five seasons with Hornets holding a commanding 3-0-1 mark and outscored Andrew 12-to-5 during that stretch.

The Fighting Tigers host first-year NJCAA Division I opponent Daytona State College, under the direction of former Andrew College player and coach, Bart Sasnett at Hord Athletic Complex on Saturday, Sept. 3. Kickoff is scheduled for Andrew's home opener for 3 p.m.
