Carnell Learmond to Lead Andrew College Men's and Women's Soccer Programs
CUTHBERT, Ga. — Head Women's Soccer Coach Payton Johnson has concluded her tenure at Andrew College after one season leading the Fighting Tigers. The Andrew College Women's Soccer program will be led by Head Men's Soccer Coach Carnell Learmond.
"Coach Johnson has been a tremendous representative of Andrew College and our women's soccer program. We are grateful for her dedication, hard work and the impact she made on our student-athletes during her time here. We appreciate everything she has done for our institution and are excited for her as she pursues this new opportunity, and she will always be part of the Andrew College family," said Athletic Director and Head Men's Basketball Coach Brian Skortz.
Along with this transition, Learmond will serve as the Head Coach of both the Men's and Women's Soccer programs. Learmond, enters his first full season with the Fighting Tigers and will oversee both programs as Andrew College begins its first year of competition in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and the Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC).
"We are extremely confident in the continued growth of both programs under Coach Carnell Learmond," said Skortz. "His commitment to our student-athletes and his vision for Andrew College soccer make him the right leader to guide both the men's and women's teams forward."
Learmond brings a wealth of experience as a coach and athletic administrator. Learmond's most recent experience came as the University of Fort Lauderdale's senior admissions counselor and Head Men's Soccer coach. He also spent time as the J.P. Taravella High School (Coral Springs, Florida) Head Boys Soccer Coach during the 2025 season.
Prior to his time in Coral Springs, Learmond served as the Union Commonwealth University Head Women's Soccer Coach from 2022-24, the Northeastern Junior College Women's Assistant Soccer Coach from 2019-22 and the Lindsey Wilson College Men's Soccer Assistant Coach from 2015-16.
Before coaching on the collegiate level, Learmond began his coaching career as the Head Women's Coach at Blanche Ely High School in Pompano Beach, Florida, from 2014-15.
"I believe soccer shaped me into a competitor, and not only teaches life values, but also prepared me for who I am today and everything that I do in life," said Learmond. "The values that the sport taught me, those are values that I can pass on to other student athletes who are looking to use the sport as a vehicle to not only earn their education, but to be a part of something bigger than what they are used to, a family."
