Andrew College Athletics Welcomes Briggs, Gonzalez and Plasko to Andrew College Football
CUTHBERT, Ga - Andrew College Athletics welcomes three new coaches to the Andrew College Football staff: Alex Plasko (special teams and recruiting coordinator), Jonathan Gonzalez (wide receivers coach and compliance coordinator) and Demetrius Briggs (offensive line coach, strength coach and run game coordinator).
Athletic Director and Head Men's Basketball Coach Brian Skortz announced the hirings on Feb. 17.
Plasko enters his first year at Andrew College as special teams coordinator and recruiting coordinator for Andrew College Football. He brings collegiate coaching experience across multiple programs and conferences, along with a strong background as a former championship-winning student-athlete.
Prior to joining Andrew College, Plasko coached at Keystone College (NCAA Division III), where his work with specialists produced an all-conference punter and return specialist in the Landmark Conference. He later coached at Lincoln University of Pennsylvania (NCAA Division II), where he developed the CIAA Special Teams Player of the Year.
Plasko built his foundation in football as a standout long snapper at Delaware Valley University. During his playing career, he was a member of three Middle Atlantic Conference championship teams.
A native of Plymouth Meeting, Pennsylvania, Plasko earned a bachelor's degree in business management and sports management from Delaware Valley University in 2023.
Gonzalez enters his first year at Andrew College as wide receivers coach and compliance coordinator for Andrew College Football, joining the staff in February 2026.
He arrives after spending the previous season as the assistant wide receivers coach at Hampton University, where he coached and developed a wide receiver unit that produced more than 1,700 total receiving yards (150 yards per game) and eight touchdowns.
A native of Brooklyn, New York, Gonzalez earned a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from the University of Alaska Anchorage in 2017. He brings a fundamentals-based approach to player development and emphasizes production, discipline and execution.
Briggs joins Andrew College as the offensive line coach, strength coach and run game coordinator for Andrew College Football. Briggs is a versatile coach with experience ranging from the high school level to the professional ranks. He is known for developing both offensive and defensive linemen while emphasizing a physical, disciplined brand of football built on technique and culture.
Most recently, Briggs served as defensive line coach at Heidelberg University, where he coached two defensive linemen to All-Ohio Athletic Conference honors while helping lead the program to the No. 3 ranked defense in the OAC.
Briggs began his collegiate coaching career as a graduate assistant at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke.
He earned a Master of Business Administration in business management from Winston-Salem State University and a Bachelor of Science in exercise science from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke.
Briggs is also an International Sports Sciences Association certified personal trainer and is committed to building disciplined football programs while developing young men prepared for success both on and off the field.
Andrew College is a National Junior College Athletic Association Division I school located in Cuthbert, Georgia. The Fighting Tigers sponsor 15 sports and compete in the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association. Andrew College will move to the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics, effective July 1, 2026.
