Fighting Tigers Win Home Opener
Cuthbert, Ga- Men's Basketball Wins Home Opener
The Fighting Tigers tonight faced off against the Lurleen B Wallace Saints in Cuthbert, GA in the Jinks gymnasium.
Last year the Saints and Fighting played twice and LBW won both of those matchups.
This year Andrew remembered losing to them twice and wanted to get this win as it was the Fighting Tigers Home Opener for them, as it was also the Saints first game of the season as well.
During the game in the first half, the Saints maintained the lead for the entire half and did not let Andrew get into a groove offensively as they were up by one point at the half 41 to 40.
Once the second half began the game became a game of runs and battling back and forth. Neither team wanted to give up and when you thought one team would pull away that would not be the case.
Late in the second half the Fighting Tigers had some major defensive stops with the help of Joshua Habersham getting some key steals and pushing it in transition and leading the way offensively was Elijah Hightower with his ability to get to the basket and get to the free throw line.
Andrew ended up winning the game with a score of 87 to 79.
The next game for the Fighting Tigers will be on the road at Marion Military Institute located in Marion, AL on November 7th at 8:00pm Est time
Andrew College is a NJCAA Div 1 institution located in Cuthbert, GA. The Fighting Tigers sponsor 15 sports and compete in the National Junior College Athletic Association and in the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association.
