JV Tigers Take Their First Loss of the Season
CUTHBERT, Ga. — In their first game following the Thanksgiving break, the Andrew College men's JV basketball team fell 97-65 to John Melvin Christian College. Following their 85-83 victory over Florida Coastal Prep on Nov. 11, the Tigers sit at 1-1 on the season.
The Tigers were led in scoring by freshman G Jayden Mangram with 24 points on the night. Mangram was one of three Tigers to score in double figures, including Brayden Duncan (12 pts) and Tyler Jewell (12 pts).
Despite a strong start from the Tigers in the opening minutes, the Mohawks were able to outscore the Tigers 46-30 in the first half, thus putting the game out of reach. John Melvin was led in scoring by G Gavin Faure with 32 points. Faure was also one of three Mohawks to score in double figures, helping lead John Melvin on both sides of the ball.
The men's JV basketball team suits up again on Dec. 5 versus Rock Prep.
Andrew College is a National Junior College Athletic Association Division I school located in Cuthbert, Georgia. The Fighting Tigers sponsor 14 sports and compete in the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association. Andrew College will move to the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics, effective July 1, 2026.
