Men’s soccer ranked No. 16 in Division I

CUTHBERT, Ga. -- After an impressive 6-0-0 start to the 2015 campaign, the Andrew College men's soccer team has earned the No. 16 ranking in the latest 2015 National Junior College Athletic Association Division I Men's Soccer Coaches Association poll the national office announced on Wednesday.

"The ranking is a testament to the players and the work they put in," stated head coach Rudy Roediger. "It was nearly a year ago that this program was suffering a 15-0 loss and today we are ranked as the 16th best team in the country. I am very proud of the players, but we still have a lot to work on to continue to improve every day."

The Fighting Tigers are making their first appearance in the national rankings since 2004 when NJCAA All-American and current Fort Lauderdale Strikers of the North American Soccer League professional alum, Joe Nasco controlled the net for Andrew.

Andrew opened their 2015 campaign with back-to-back 2-1 wins over Patrick Henry (Va.) and Broward (Fla.) who were receiving votes in the preseason version of the poll.

Currently the Fighting Tigers rank No. 22 in goals scored (22) and No. 15 in goals against average (0.67) and have outscored their opponents 22-4

The boys in Blue & Gold will travel to Pembroke Pines, Fla., to face ASA Miami on Friday in the Silver Storm's season opener. That match will be a neutral site contest at Broward College with a 7 p.m. scheduled kickoff. The following day Andrew will face Broward for the second time on the season with a Saturday night kickoff set for 7 p.m.
