Andrew College Fighting Tigers Wrestling Knocks Off St. Thomas 28–23 in Home Opener
Cuthbert, GA — The Andrew College Fighting Tigers wrestling team opened their home dual season in thrilling fashion on Friday night, securing a hard-fought 28–23 victory over St. Thomas University. The win marks a strong early-season statement for the Tigers as they continue building momentum in the 2025–26 campaign.
From the opening whistle, the Tigers brought energy, discipline, and grit to the mat. Key bonus-point victories proved to be the difference, with Andrew capitalizing on several momentum-shifting matches that electrified the home crowd.
"Our guys showed tremendous fight tonight," said Head Coach Billy Gordy. "St. Thomas is a tough, well-coached program, and earning a win like this at home says a lot about our team's preparation and belief. We battled in every weight class."
The dual featured standout performances across the lineup, including:

Clint Gilbert, 141lb weight class – delivered a dominant bonus-point win to swing early momentum to the Tigers.

Thawbaan As-Sidiq, 149lb weight class – earned a crucial pin that ultimately kept the energy for Andrew.
- Jay Brown, 157lb weight class – battled back after giving up the first takedown to get the fall in the first period

Riley Brewer, 165lb weight class – continued his dominant season, earning his 5th technical fall of the season
- Jason Brown, 197lb weight class – earned a crucial technical fall that ultimately sealed the dual for Andrew. Slide-by after slide-by helped solidify the team score.
With the win, the Fighting Tigers improve to 1-0, building confidence as they move deeper into their schedule. The team will now turn its attention to ATL DUALS, where they hope to continue their strong start.
