SSAC Adds Men's Wrestling as Championship Sport
CUTHBERT, Ga. – On June 2, 2026, the Southern States Athletic Conference announced a partnership with The Sun Conference to officially add men's wrestling as a championship sport beginning with the 2026-27 season.
Andrew College men's wrestling will be one of seven programs competing in the conference alongside Brewton-Parker, Life, Keiser, New College of Florida, Southeastern and St. Thomas.
"Adding men's wrestling as a championship sport is an exciting opportunity for the SSAC and our member institutions," said SSAC Commissioner Mike Hall. "With the quality of programs involved, this has the chance to immediately become one of the top wrestling conferences in the NAIA."
The inaugural championship is scheduled for Feb. 20, 2027, at the Multiplex at Cramton Bowl in Montgomery, Ala. The event will remain in Alabama for the first two years before moving to Florida.
The partnership marks the third collaboration between the SSAC and The Sun Conference. The two conferences currently partner in men's and women's swimming as well as men's and women's indoor track and field.
For Andrew College, the announcement represents another milestone as the Fighting Tigers prepare for their transition to the NAIA and competition within the Southern States Athletic Conference beginning July 1, 2026.
Andrew College is a National Junior College Athletic Association Division I school located in Cuthbert, Georgia. The Fighting Tigers sponsor 16 sports and compete in the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association. Andrew College will move to the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics, effective July 1, 2026.
