Andrew Women’s Basketball Celebrates Sophomore Class in Home Finale
CUTHBERT, Ga - In their final home game and final game of the 2025-26 regular season, the Andrew College Women's Basketball team will face off against South Georgia Technical College on Wednesday, March 4, at Jinks Gymnasium. The Fighting Tigers will also honor players and staff as part of their Sophomore Day celebration.
The Fighting Tigers enter Wednesday's matchup against the top team in the conference as South Georgia is riding an eight-game win streak and holds a 13-1 conference record.
This will be the third meeting between the two teams this season. In their last contest on Saturday, Feb. 21, South Georgia won 89-66. However, with extra family, friends and loved ones in the crowd, it could be exactly what the Fighting Tigers need as they pursue a victory.
Andrew College will celebrate seven sophomores on Wednesday: Braniya "B" Baker, Tiyana "Ty" Snowden, Kaylee Hamrick, Jayla Hutchinson, Trista Bennett, Mahassen Thomas and women's basketball manager and sophomore volleyball standout Na'Layla Singleton.
Braniya Baker
Baker, known for her iconic double-zero jersey number, has cemented herself as a leader and veteran voice for the Fighting Tigers. She will be accompanied by her grandmother Sue Long, her mother Dawn Oliver and her five siblings.
During her time at Andrew, Baker made the GCAA All-Conference Tournament Team during her freshman year and was named to the GCAA All-Conference Team. This season, Baker has been a force on both sides of the floor, highlighted by a season-high 24 points against Central Georgia Tech. Baker will be returning next year to Andrew College and will make history as a member of Andrew's first NAIA Women's Basketball team.
Tiyana Snowden
Snowden hails from Sanford, Florida, and will be escorted during tonight's sophomore recognition by her mother Kandace Mitchell, her cousin Kobe Johnson and her siblings Ashaunti, Johniya, Sanye, Araye, Serenity and her brother LJ.
Snowden has been a force during her two-year career at Andrew College and has cemented herself as a knockdown shooter from beyond the arc. Her career-high came this season when she scored 16 points against Southern Crescent Technical College.
Snowden is currently an education major and plans to join the Navy Reserve while continuing her education.
Kaylee Hamrick
Hamrick will be accompanied by her father Johnathan Hamrick. Hamrick is a guard from Barnesville, Georgia, and has unfortunately been sidelined during the 2025-26 season due to injury. However, she plans to continue her education in sports and public relations.
Jayla Hutchinson
Hailing from Baytown, Texas, Hutchinson, or "Hutch" as she is affectionately known by her coaches and teammates, will be escorted by her brother Jahson Supreme. Although she originally played the guard position, Hutchinson transitioned to the forward role and is known as the team's on-court leader during games.
Hutch is currently a health science major and is considering returning to Cuthbert but plans to continue pursuing her education regardless of where she plays next.
Trista Bennett
Bennett will be escorted by the Lady Tigers' No. 1 fans, her parents Tim and Cindy Bennett. During her two years at Andrew College, they have yet to miss a game.
Known for her passion for the game and her drive as a two-sport athlete in softball and basketball, Bennett has become an essential member of the Lady Tigers at the point guard position.
Bennett is currently studying elementary education and plans to continue impacting the lives of others as she pursues her degree and dream of teaching the next generation.
Mahassen Thomas
Thomas is known across campus for her welcoming personality and for being the ultimate teammate. Hailing from Acworth, Georgia, Thomas came to the Fighting Tigers not only to compete on the court but also to focus on her education.
Thomas is currently pursuing her degree and plans to continue her studies to obtain a Bachelor of Science in elementary education.
Na'Layla Singleton
Singleton has served as the Women's Basketball manager for the past two years. According to Head Coach Kelly Britsky, Singleton is one of the best team managers she has ever had. Singleton, or "Lay" as she is known across campus, is recognized for her ability to anticipate the needs of the coaching staff and work in a timely and efficient manner.
Outside of basketball, Lay has been a standout volleyball player for the Fighting Tigers over the past two seasons. A graduate of Crestwood High School in Sumter, South Carolina, Singleton earned MVP, All-Region honors and was named Athlete of the Year.
She is currently pursuing her degree in health science and plans to continue her career by joining the United States Air Force.
