Opening day for spring baseball 2016 was a huge success for the Fighting Tigers of Andrew College. The day started off with President of Andrew College Linda Buchanan and Cuthbert Mayor and Board of Trustee Member Steve Whatley throwing out the ceremonial first pitch to kick off the day and season. Hord Complex had a large number of supporters on hand for opening day of baseball season and to show support for Linda Buchanan. "It was a great day to be involved with Andrew College as there was a ton of excitement and support for our guys and all the hard work they have been putting forth to get ready for our season. I appreciate it very much and thankful for the support of our President Linda Buchanan and Mayor Steve Whatley for being involved with our program. I'm looking forward to a great season!" The Tigers proceeded to sweep the opening day double header as they hosted Thomas University JV with winning scores of 2-1 in game 1 and 4-3 in game 2. It was a great opening day for the team as several individuals filled up the stat line. In game 1 Anthony Young and Willie Thrower were the big players as both added 2 hits apiece for the game to pace the offense. Dalton Kuhn received the opening game nod and finished up with 4 innings pitched and 6 strikeouts on the day; but Brock Balis a freshman picked up the first win of his career and season. In game 2 freshman Roman Oliu received the start on the mound and picked up the win with 5 innings pitched allowing only 2 runs and Chandler Raiden then closed the door picking up his first save of the season. Michael Warren paced the offense with 3 hits and 1 stolen base for the game helping lead the Tigers to a double header sweep.
