Dr. William R. Kennedy
30th President of Andrew College
A first-generation college student from rural western Arkansas, Dr. Kennedy earned his bachelor's degree in exercise science from Oklahoma Wesleyan University. He later received a master's degree in management from Southern Nazarene University and earned his Doctor of Business Administration with a specialization in strategic management from the University of the Cumberlands.
Before joining Andrew College, Dr. Kennedy served as vice president of admissions and athletics at Midway University in Kentucky. During his time there, the university achieved record enrollment growth, highlighted by five consecutive record-breaking traditional undergraduate classes from 2018 to 2022. He also expanded the athletics department from eight to 28 sports, increasing the student-athlete population from 92 to more than 630 while helping grow graduate and international enrollment. He also oversaw Student Affairs during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Since arriving at Andrew College, Dr. Kennedy has guided the institution through a period of significant growth. Under his leadership, enrollment has increased by 144 percent, reaching a school-record 602 students in fall 2025. He has overseen the addition of 11 bachelor's degree programs, six new athletic teams, increased fundraising efforts and the development of the college's 2024-29 strategic plan. He has also strengthened Andrew College's commitment to healthcare education by supporting programs such as nursing, respiratory therapy and cancer registry management while expanding access through online degree offerings.
Dr. Kennedy is passionate about helping students succeed, especially those who are first-generation college students or come from underserved communities. He and his wife, Karla, have three rescue dogs, Tennyson, Ada and Milo, and attend Cuthbert United Methodist Church.
