Tigers Split With Calhoun

Cuthbert, GA...

On Monday, February 1 the Tigers hosted Calhoun Community College and split the double header coming down with its first loss of the season. In game 1 there was a nail bitter until late in the game where the Tigers were down 3-1 going into the bottom of the 5th inning. The bats finally woke up and put up 4 runs in the bottom half of the 5th inning to take the lead 5-3. The bullpen came in strong of relief for starter Christian Aragon as Levi Knight and David Flowers helped slow the Calhoun offense to get the ball to closer Chandler Raiden as he shut the door again picking up his second save of the season and the win for Andrew College. Michael Warren and Jack Bell both paced the offense with 2 hits apiece and Deion Sellers showed his speed on the base paths picking up two steals. In game 2 of the day saw the Tigers pick up their first loss of the season as the Calhoun pitching staff slowed the bats down for the Tigers and it turned into a pure pitching battle. Andrew Patrick started the game and gave Andrew College 5 shutout innings on the mound allowing only 4 hits. The offense was led by Jack Bell as he was the lone run of the game as he belted a solo homerun in the first inning. The final score was a loss for Andrew College by 1-2.

Andrew College take a 3 wins – 1 loss record down to Gulf Coast State College this weekend for the Kevin Miller classic in which they will be playing Lurleen B. Wallace on Friday, St. Johns River State College on Saturday, and Gulf Coast State College on Sunday.
