Demetrius Briggs

Demetrius Briggs enters his first year as the Offensive Line Coach, Strength Coach and Run Game Coordinator for the Fighting Tigers.

Briggs brings a diverse coaching background to Andrew College with experience at the Professional, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, Junior College and High School levels. Throughout his career, Briggs has coached on both sides of the football, with experience working with lineman, linebackers, run-game development and offensive and defensive coordination.

Prior to Andrew College, Briggs served as the Defensive Line Coach and Co-Defensive Coordinator at Heidelberg University. During his time with the program, he helped develop two all-conference defensive linemen and a player who ranked top 10 in the conference in sacks and top five in tackles for loss.

Briggs also spent time at the professional level with the Tucson Sugar Skulls of the Indoor Football League, serving as the Offensive Line Coach and Run Game Coordinator. During his tenure, he helped develop a top-five rushing offense that averaged more than 45 points per game.

At Georgia Military College, Briggs coached the linebackers and helped develop a unit that consistently led the team in tackles while producing a JUCO All-American. He also contributed to the No. 2-ranked defense in the NJCAA, which allowed just 18.2 points and 275.9 total yards per game while helping lead the program to the NJCAA National Semifinals.

Briggs also served as the Defensive Coordinator at Campo Verde High School, where his defense allowed 20 points or fewer per game and helped guide the program to a Class 5A regional playoff appearance.

At E.E. Smith High School, Briggs served as the Offensive Line Coach and Co-Offensive Coordinator in an Air Raid system. He helped produce an offense that averaged 30 points per game while developing a young offensive line that produced an all-conference selection.

Earlier in his career, Briggs coached at UNC Pembroke, where he worked with offensive linemen in multiple run-blocking schemes while emphasizing pass protection, blitz recognition, communication, leverage, hand placement and finishing.

Throughout his coaching career, Briggs has emphasized player development, physicality, discipline, preparation, accountability and attention to detail. His goal is to develop student-athletes into confident and fundamentally sound football players while helping build a tough, disciplined and competitive program.
