Allen Scruggs enters his first year as an Assistant Wrestling Coach for the Fighting Tigers.
Scruggs brings more than 20 years of experience in the sport of wrestling to Andrew College as both a competitor and coach.
A Valdosta, Georgia, native, Scruggs competed at Valdosta High School, where he became a four-time regional qualifier, four-time regional finalist and two-time regional champion at 189 and 215 pounds. He also qualified for the state tournament four times and was a two-time state placewinner.
In 2009, Scruggs captured the Georgia Class 5A West Sectional Championship and the Georgia Class 5A State Championship at 215 pounds. He was also selected to the 2009 Georgia Dream Team.
Scruggs continued his wrestling career at Campbellsville University in Campbellsville, Kentucky, where he competed at 184 and 197 pounds. During his collegiate career, he became a four-time conference qualifier, two-time conference finalist and conference champion.
He also qualified for the NAIA National Tournament four times, earning NAIA All-American honors twice. Scruggs recorded a fourth-place national finish during his career and later advanced to the national championship match, finishing as the NAIA national runner-up.
Following his competitive career, Scruggs transitioned into coaching. At Valdosta High School, he helped coach seven regional champions, four state placewinners and one state champion.
At the collegiate level, Scruggs has coached one Kansas Cup champion, one South Regional champion, three NAIA national qualifiers and one NAIA national finalist.
Scruggs earned his bachelor's degree in sports management from Campbellsville University.
