Baptist University of Florida will host Saturday's matches in Graceville, Fla. The Fighting Tigers have yet to win a set this season. However, following Wednesday's matchup against Toccoa Falls, they will be facing a familiar foe. Despite the loss, Andrew showed glimpses of exceptional teamwork and outstanding defensive pressure at the net while jumping out to early leads in all three sets. However, the Fighting Tigers were unable to capitalize on their early success.
The Lady Tigers were led in assists (22) and digs (10) by
Emily Calhoun, while
Angelina Chambrey led the offensive attack with 10 kills on the day.
Their second match of the day will come against the Baptist University of Florida Eagles at 3 p.m. CT. The Eagles are currently 2-2 on the season and are led by second-year Head Coach Thais Franca. This will also be their second tri-match over the past two days after facing United States Sports University and Trinity College of Jacksonville on Friday afternoon.
The Fighting Tigers are not only looking to secure their first set win but also their first match victory of the season and first as members of the NAIA. Andrew has shown plenty of potential through its first few matches, and if the Fighting Tigers continue to build on the positives they have shown early in the season, they could be a tough team to face once Southern States Athletic Conference play begins later this year.
Located in Cuthbert, Georgia, Andrew College is a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics. The Fighting Tigers sponsor 16 sports and compete in the Southern States Athletic Conference.
