CUTHBERT, Ga. – After spending last weekend on the road, the Fighting Tigers were eager to return to Hord Athletic Complex for their first home match in almost two weeks. Despite the added adrenaline and hometown crowd, the Fighting Tigers fell, 2-0, for their second consecutive loss, dropping to 2-7 on the season.
How It Happened:
Despite their record, the Fighting Tigers have continued to play fierce defense and have shown their ability to defend one-on-one. That style of play has allowed Andrew to cut down on early goals and limit offensive production.
Unfortunately, at the 6:30 mark, Henry Appiah opened the scoring for the Lions with an unassisted goal. Freed-Hardeman maintained that lead through the remainder of the first half. Through the first 45 minutes of play, the Fighting Tigers were held to just one shot, which was ultimately saved by Freed-Hardeman goalkeeper Gaspar Bourdon.
In the second half, the Lions added to their lead in the 68th minute with another unassisted goal, this time from Hugo Luque. Freed-Hardeman maintained its lead throughout the remainder of the match to secure the 2-0 victory.
Andrew was once again held to just one shot in the second half and finished the match with two total shots and only one on goal. In comparison, Freed-Hardeman tallied 16 shots on the afternoon, including five corner kicks, all coming in the second half.
Next Up
On Saturday, Sept. 26, the Fighting Tigers will travel to Toccoa Falls College for another nonconference matchup. Saturday's game marks Andrew's final nonconference match of the season and is set for 1 p.m.
