CUTHBERT, Ga. – Coming into Friday's conference matchup against Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College out of Tifton, Ga., both the Fighting Tigers and Golden Stallions were looking to secure their first win of the season. Instead, the teams finished Friday's match in a 0-0 draw, giving both teams their first tie of the season.
How It Happened
Both teams came into Friday's match with a different fire as they searched for their first win of the season. With both teams struggling offensively, it looked like one would find a way to break through and walk away with the victory.
Instead, the match turned into a defensive masterclass from goalkeepers
Ashlee Allen and
Millie Wilson for Andrew and Madison Black for ABAC. Allen and Wilson combined for 28 saves in the match, led by team captain Wilson with 20. On the opposite side of the pitch, Black finished with six saves.
Despite allowing 41 shots, including 28 on goal, the Fighting Tigers played great defensively and kept the Golden Stallions off the scoreboard for the entire match. Offensively, Andrew tallied seven shots, led by
Alyssa Wilkes,
Sher'Miah Donaldson and
Natalya Riden with two shots each.
Despite not securing the win, the Fighting Tigers showed improvement on both sides of the pitch and will look to build on Friday's performance the next time they take the field.
