Box Score CUTHBERT, Ga. – On Thursday, Sept. 3, the Andrew College Men's Soccer team made history, recording its first win as a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and the Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC). The Fighting Tigers secured a 2-0 victory ove Florida College, behind goals from Captain Dumisani Ziyaya Chatata and Paul Coaxum.

With the victory, Head Coach Carnell Learmond secured his first win as leader of the Fighting Tigers and, rightfully so, received a much-needed Gatorade bath from his team in celebration.

The Match

The Fighting Tigers played tremendous defense to start the match, once again led by goalkeeper Teagan Paulo, who finished with seven saves at the net. Through the first three games of the season, Paulo has recorded at least seven saves in each match, including a 15-save performance in the season opener against Georgia Southwestern.

With their defense once again making a statement, the Tigers then set their sights on finding the back of the net for the first time this season. In the 12th minute, captain and starting defender Chatata raced down the pitch and put the Fighting Tigers on the board with his first goal of the season. He was assisted by freshman Omer-Eloi Pasi, also marking his first assist of the season.

Andrew rode that momentum throughout the remainder of the match and continued to control the action on the pitch. Then, with just three minutes remaining, Coaxum gave Andrew some much-needed insurance with a powerful strike for his first goal of the season. He was assisted by Ethan Friday, giving the captain his first assist on the season.

Despite some unfortunate losses to start the season, Friday and Paulo have been the glue that has helped hold this Fighting Tigers team together, encouraging their teammates and directing traffic throughout the match. Their leadership, along with a complete team effort, helped lead Andrew to its first win of the season and a historic first victory of the NAIA era.

The Fighting Tigers return to the pitch Saturday, Sept. 5, at 3 p.m. in Cuthbert, Ga.
