CUTHBERT, Ga - The Fighting Tigers dominated Talladega College 4-0, defending their home turf and returning to the win column. Andrew picked up its second win of the season in the hard-fought nonconference matchup.
The Match
The Fighting Tigers looked like a completely different team in Thursday evening's matchup. From the opening whistle, captain
Ethan Friday rallied his troops as they prepared for battle. The match was evenly played through the first three minutes, but an early foul set up Andrew College's first penalty kick of the season, with none other than Friday stepping up to take it.
In true captain fashion, Friday (1) stutter-stepped toward the ball and delivered a powerful strike to give the Fighting Tigers a 1-0 lead. Riding the momentum of the opening goal,
Manuel Lopez (2) joined in on the fun.
In the 13th minute, with nothing but grass in front of him, Lopez displayed beautiful dribbling down the pitch, crossed his defender and delivered an amazing goal. The Fighting Tigers dominated the Tornadoes throughout the opening 45 minutes and entered halftime with a 2-0 lead.
The second half brought more of the same as
Omer-Eloi Pasi (1) scored in the 52nd minute before freshman
Rickey Vaughn (1) added another goal in the 80th. Vaughn recorded his first goal of the season off a spectacular assist from
Paul Coaxum, giving Andrew a commanding 4-0 lead with just 10 minutes remaining. A lead they would maintain through the final 10 minutes of play.
The Fighting Tigers return to action Saturday, Sept. 19, when they face Point University on the road in another conference matchup.

- Four Fighting Tigers found the back of the net: Friday, Lopez, Pasi and Vaughn. The goals were the first of the season for Friday, Pasi and Vaughn.
- Andrew had 29 players take the field in Thursday's match.
- Andrew held Talladega to six shots, with only three on goal.
- All three Andrew goalkeepers recorded a save: Teagan Paulo, Connor Jimmie and Jonas Hamlett. Marked their first clean sheet of the season.
- Andrew recorded 23 shots in Thursday's matchup, its most this season. The total surpassed the 11 shots recorded in its Sept. 3 win over Florida College.
