MACON, Ga. – On Wednesday, Sept. 23, the Lady Tigers traveled to Macon for a conference matchup against Wesleyan College. Despite battling hard through 90 minutes of play, the Fighting Tigers were unable to find the win column, falling, 4-0, to the Wesleyan Wolves.
How It Happened:
Through the opening minutes of competition, the Fighting Tigers unfortunately looked a step behind. At the 4:43 mark of the first half, Louden Busbee, off a smooth assist from Fernanda Perez, gave the Wolves their first lead of the game.
Wesleyan was not done, and just six minutes later, Stephanie Cogan tacked on to the lead, giving the Wolves a 2-0 advantage. Cogan was assisted by Caleigh Patton and Skylar Benko.
With the game still within their grasp, the Fighting Tigers played hard to start the second half. Unfortunately, Busbee could not be slowed down and knocked in two more goals in the 54th and 85th minutes to give the Wolves a four-goal advantage. Wesleyan maintained the lead through the final whistle to secure the 4-0 victory.
Notes:
- The Fighting Tigers were held to just nine shots in Wednesday's matchup, while the Wolves tallied 24.
- Goalkeeper Samantha Ray logged six saves on the night.
- Sher'Miah Donaldson tallied a season-high four shots on goal in the match.
- Captain Millie Wilson logged three saves on four shots on goal through around 20 minutes of action at goalkeeper.
