CUTHBERT, Ga. – Andrew College Women's Soccer opened its season with a home matchup against Talladega College, marking the program's first official match as a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and the Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC). The Fighting Tigers fell in the match, 15-1.

Despite the loss, the Fighting Tigers jumped out to an early lead in the fifth minute as Loren Hill secured her first goal of the season off a beautiful assist from Ully Da Silva, also marking her first assist of the season.

Unfortunately, that would be Andrew's final lead of the match as the Talladega Tornadoes put together a dominant offensive performance, scoring 15 unanswered goals. In total, Talladega recorded 36 shots throughout the match, with 29 coming on goal.

Five different Talladega players found the back of the net, including Shamaya Damiels (5), Cycoiah Wattley (4), Annalisa Vincent (2), Mikayla Stutts (2) and Jakayla Stutts (1).

Despite what the final score may show, goalkeeper Samantha Ray battled at the net and tallied 14 saves in the match. Ray exited the game following an apparent injury in the second half.

The Lady Tigers return to action Thursday, Sept. 10, against Blue Mountain Christian University out of Mississippi. The match is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Hord Athletic Complex.

Located in Cuthbert, Georgia, Andrew College is a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics. The Fighting Tigers sponsor 16 sports and compete in the Southern States Athletic Conference.
