Andrew College Baseball Dominates Versus Point University

Andrew College Baseball Dominates Versus Point University

CUTHBERT, Ga - Andrew College Baseball extended its winning streak to three games with two dominant wins over Point University JV to sweep Wednesday's doubleheader. Andrew took Game 1, 17-1, through five innings and stayed hot offensively en route to a 15-5 victory through six innings in Game 2.

Game 1

After holding the Skyhawks scoreless in the first inning, the Fighting Tigers logged their most dominant inning of the season with nine runs in the bottom of the first.

RHP Jakob Grant got the start for the Fighting Tigers and was dominant from his opening pitch, allowing just 3 H, ER, BB and a career-high 9 SO through 5.0 IP. Grant held Point scoreless through four innings before allowing a run in the fifth.

The Fighting Tigers saw eight players record hits, including five with multiple. Among them were 2B Kai Huber (2-for-4, 2B, RBI, 2R, SB), 3B Cameron Kenney (2-for-2, RBI, BB, 2R), RF Anthony Kradzinski (2-for-3, 2B, 2RBI, 2R) and SS Colin Mendiola (3-for-4, 3B, 3RBI, 2R).

It marked the first triple and first three-hit game of Mendiola's career after getting the start at shortstop.

C Chase Taylor (1-for-2, 2B, 4RBI, 2BB, 2R) also made an impact offensively, knocking in three runs on a bases-loaded RBI double.

Game 2

Coming into Game 2, the Fighting Tigers were confident they could handle business and secure the sweep. The Andrew College bats stayed hot, putting up a four-run first inning, the first of three four-run innings in the game.

SP Peyton Morefield took the mound and pitched three scoreless innings before allowing four runs in the fourth. Morefield finished the game allowing six hits, four runs and one walk with two strikeouts through 3.1 IP. Despite allowing multiple runs in the fourth, Morefield was dialed in through the first half of the contest and set the stage for Leland Dodson (W, 2.2 IP, H, ER, SO) to secure his first win of the season.

Much like Game 1, the Fighting Tigers saw five players record multiple hits, led by DH Haiden Schultz. After launching his first home run of the season in an 8-6 win over Chattahoochee Valley, Schultz has been dialed in at the plate. He finished the game going 2-for-3 with 3 RBI and a walk and launched a mammoth home run over the left-center field wall for his second home run of the season.

C Mason Schreiber also tacked on with a three-run home run of his own, his first of the season. Through five games played, Schreiber is batting .333 (3-for-9) with 2 XBH, 5 RBI, a SB and three runs scored.

Following their dominant Wednesday afternoon, the Fighting Tigers will travel to Tallahassee to face off against familiar foe Tallahassee State College on Saturday, Feb. 28.

Saturday's game will be a doubleheader with first pitch scheduled for 1 p.m.

Andrew College is a National Junior College Athletic Association Division I school located in Cuthbert, Georgia. The Fighting Tigers sponsor 14 sports and compete in the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association. Andrew College will move to the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics, effective July 1, 2026.
