The Smash Bro’s: Kenney and DeRosso Power Fighting Tigers Past East Georgia State College
CUTHBERT, Ga - In its conference opener against East Georgia State College, Andrew College dominated on both sides to secure a 10-2 victory at Hord Athletic Complex.
RHP Nicholas Sloane got the start and was sharp through six innings. He was relieved by RHP Brady Cunningham in the seventh after allowing a two-run home run that accounted for the Bobcats' only runs of the game.
Cunningham held East Georgia scoreless the rest of the way, securing Andrew's first conference win of the season.
Sloane entered Tuesday's game with a 3.38 ERA through 21.1 innings pitched and was eager to bounce back from a tough outing against Tallahassee State on Feb. 28. He did just that, even showing emotion after escaping a bases-loaded jam to end the fifth inning, energizing both his teammates and the home crowd.
At the plate, the Fighting Tigers were once again led by the power of 3B Cameron Kenney. After 2B Kai Huber recorded Andrew's first hit of the game with a single up the middle, Kenney launched his fourth home run of the season to give the Tigers an early 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning.
Kenney was one of two Tigers to go deep Tuesday. After Andrew built an eight-run lead, fueled by seven unanswered runs, LF Brady DeRosso stepped to the plate and hit his first home run of the season, a two-run shot that extended the lead to 10-2.
Andrew held the Bobcats scoreless over the final two innings to secure the victory.
Andrew College is a National Junior College Athletic Association Division I school located in Cuthbert, Georgia. The Fighting Tigers sponsor 15 sports and compete in the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association. Andrew College will move to the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics, effective July 1, 2026.
