Andrew College Baseball 2026 Season In-Review
CUTHBERT, Ga - Coming into the 2025-26 season, the Fighting Tigers had big shoes to fill as several notable players, including INF Al Nsah and INF Jack Quick, moved on to compete at the next level.
Rather than dwelling on the past, the Fighting Tigers embraced the challenge and stepped up. Andrew was led by a strong sophomore class that included INF Cameron Kenney, INF Luke Meszar, RHP Nicholas Sloane and OF Anthony Kradzinski. While the veteran leadership proved invaluable throughout the season, it was the freshman class that played a major role in the team's success. Among those standouts were INF Colin Mendiola, IF/OF Jose Massanet, OF Brady DeRosso, RHP Brady Cunningham and C Chase Taylor.
Andrew baseball finished the season with a 21-30 overall record and a 12-16 mark in conference play. Entering the conference tournament, the Fighting Tigers secured the No. 3 seed in the GCAA after winning four of their final five regular-season games, capped by a dominant 11-7 win over South Georgia State College.
Unfortunately, the Fighting Tigers' season came to an end in the conference tournament with an 11-10 loss to Gordon State.
Despite the disappointing finish, several Cut Boys delivered standout individual performances throughout the season, resulting in multiple GCAA All-Region honors.
Four Andrew College baseball players were named to the GCAA All-Region Second Team following impressive 2026 campaigns. Those Fighting Tigers included RHP Sloane, 3B Kenney, OF DeRosso and IF/OF Massanet, who earned recognition as a designated hitter.
This was not the first time some of the Cut Boys were recognized this season, as Sloane and Kenney were both named GCAA Players of the Week. During those stretches, Kenney hit .563 with nine hits and 10 RBI, while Sloane posted a 2-0 record with a 3.00 ERA and eight strikeouts.
During the regular season, Kenney slashed .445/.594/.685 (65-for-146) and led the team in batting average, on-base percentage, slugging percentage, doubles (14), RBI (42) and walks (41). He also ranked second on the team in runs scored (41) and home runs (7). Among GCAA leaders, Kenney ranked second in the conference in batting average.
Throughout the regular season, the Fighting Tigers relied heavily on Sloane as their No. 1 starter. He rose to the challenge, finishing the year with a 4.80 ERA over 69.1 innings pitched with 52 strikeouts and an 8-3 record.
Hailing from Moultrie, Ga., DeRosso made an immediate impact as a freshman, emerging as one of the most consistent bats and defenders in the Andrew lineup. Primarily playing left field, DeRosso proved to be a premier defender with the ability to play all three outfield positions. Over 45 games, he hit .333 (46-for-138) with 12 doubles, three triples, five home runs, 40 RBI, 28 walks and six stolen bases.
Coming into the 2026 season, Massanet's role on the team was still developing. However, with his combination of speed, arm strength, defensive awareness and power at the plate, a breakout season quickly followed.
Massanet began the year at second base before moving to the outfield due to injury. He excelled in his new role, locking down right field for much of the season while continuing to produce offensively. As a true freshman, Massanet finished his first NJCAA season batting .342 (41-for-120) with 35 RBI, six home runs and four stolen bases. Five of his six home runs came during conference play, along with 29 of his 35 RBI.
Although the 2026 season has come to a close, the Fighting Tigers showcased a strong foundation of young talent and veteran leadership that should continue to fuel the program moving forward.
This also marked the final season Andrew College athletics and Andrew College baseball competed in the NJCAA and GCAA. Effective July 1, 2026, the Fighting Tigers will transition to the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics and compete in the Southern States Athletic Conference.
